Resfeber is a Swedish noun
I absolutely love the definition of resfeber [ʀᴀᴄᴇ-fay-ber]: “The restless race of the traveller’s heart before the journey begins, when anxiety and anticipation are tangled together.”
My great-grandmother immigrated to the United States from Stockholm, Sweden. I wonder if she had resfeber? In thirteen days we leave, with our two dogs, Artie & Gordy, for a two month adventure in our RV ᴍᴀᴛɪʟᴅᴀ, and the resfeber is beginning to build. There are still some projects to complete (my favorite being replacing the galley faucet!); ᴍᴀᴛɪʟᴅᴀ needs a professional washing, and we have to stop at our RV dealer in Iowa along the way to repair the radio and TV antennas that a low branch rendered useless. (My son found the radio antenna lying on its side, snapped off at the base, and the King TV antenna won’t turn on and we can’t get our usual local signals.)
During this journey we’ll stop in Seattle for my son’s wedding; Irving, TX for my 40th High School Reunion; and in West Memphis, TN for Winnebago Trend Rally. Our plans for the travel between Washington and Texas are flexible at this point, due in part to the numerous fires currently out West. Our plans to visit Yosemite may be postponed because right now they are closed for poor air quality.
I found a helpful website https://www.fireweatheravalanche.org/fire/ that has a map of the most current fire locations in the US. The fires themselves are devastating, but learning that some were intentionally set really angers me. I’m so sorry for the losses families are suffering because of these fires.
