Why Trend?

Compact size that fits into a regular parking space. Extremely tight turning radius. We did not want any slide-outs. We like the rear corner bedroom and full bath. They feel tucked out of the way of the living areas. The galley (kitchen) feels like a separate space, especially when the flip-up countertop extension is up. The living/dining area also feels like its own space, separate from the rest of the interior. We love the seating arrangement.

The two front cab chairs swivel to join the table and bench seat conversation and meals. The table has an addition attached beneath that turns out to accommodate the bench seats and the cab seats. Six people can comfortably sit around the table to eat, play cards and games, and visit. Plus, with the StudioLoft bed and living/dining bed, the Trend 23L can sleep up to 6 people.

We don’t plan to watch a lot of TV, so opted out of the 2nd, smaller TV to have more storage space. The 24″ HDTV swivels to be seen from the living, kitchen, and rear bedroom areas. We found out how to listen to the TV through the house Jensen speakers located at the front (A), rear (B) and outdoor (C) speakers using the ALT 2 setting. There’s also a rearview camera monitor, and powered awning with LED lights.

How Did We Choose The Name Matilda?

Well, at the time we didn’t know anyone named Matilda, and the song, “Waltzing Matilda” makes us think of someone wandering the countryside. It’s also a slang term for traveling on foot with one’s belongings.

UPDATE 2019:  While looking at family genealogy charts, I discovered that my great-great-grandmother was Matilda Anderson! Her daughter, Eva Sophia Anderson, immigrated from Sweden, married August Rubeck, and gave birth to my grandfather, Arthur Morris Rubeck, her only child. My father, Arthur Hilgard Rubeck, son of Art and Ruth Rubeck, was an only child, also. –Janet Rubeck Shingleton
